Hello my lovelies! Sorry I've not been a regular poster in the last couple of weeks - things have been rather hectic (coursework deadlines, theory revision and general stuff) but I thought I would do a post on products that I regret buying. Some of them are good products and actually aren't rubbish, it's just they don't suit my skin tone or what I want from a product.
L-R Superdrug Dry Shampoo, e.l.f Cream Blush in Flirt, LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub, MAC Pro Sculpting Cream in Naturally Defined, Essie Cute as a Button, MAC Casual Colour in Lazy Sunday
Superdrug Dry Shampoo
I had run out of my usual Batiste dry shampoo when I bought this - it was buy one get two free so I thought I would give it a whirl. It isn't the usual white powder which Batiste is known for; if you spray too much it turns really sticky and leaves your hair feeling greasier than it already is. It also has a funny, strange smell which isn't at all pleasant and can linger. Defeats the object of a dry shampoo which soaks up all of the oil.
e.l.f Cream Blush in Flirt
This was on a wishlist and featured in my e.l.f haul a couple of months ago, and I was so excited to try it. What a let down. It was the colour that first attracted me but also how cheap it was for a cream blusher - the only ones really on the market were highend such as MAC etc. It comes in a really clunky container, which may look cool, but it's too big for carrying around in your make-up bag. The consitency isn't creamy at all - it feels like playdough or putty and when using your fingers, you only get a trace and the product is left in a scoop still in the container. Feels more like chalky putty and doesn't blend well at all.
LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub
Don't get me wrong, I think this is a brilliant concept and I have no complaints about the appeal/taste/smell of it. The only thing that I have an issue with is the fact of licking my lips after I have used the scrub. Sure, it tastes delicious, but I have extremely dry lips and do I really want to be licking off all of the dead skin too? I also use this product after wearing a red lip or a lip stain so just imagine what you are swallowing.
MAC Pro Sculpting Cream in Naturally Defined
I bought this online and after telling a MAC Online Adviser that I am an NW20, she advised I choose the colour Naturally Defined. It's a lovely creamy contour, I just wish I had gone for the colour Walnut as it is really hard to define your cheekbones/contour with this.
Essie Cute as a Button
I had seen the hype around this colour, and bought it during the Summer and to be true to it, it is such a pretty pinky/coraly shade. But this polish seems to last a day at the most on my nails! Always chips or peels off!
MAC Casual Colour in Lazy Sunday
Isn't this just the most gorgeous pink you've ever seen? It is a 'lip & cheek colour' and unfortunately, it is just too pale to look right with my skintone and it washes out my face when I put it on my cheeks. It does however, look nice on the lips if you're going for a 60's heavy doll eyes/pink understated lips look.
These products may be perfect for you, they just don't suit me and it's money I could have done without spending. But hey ho, it's all about finding out what you like and don't. What products are on your hit list?
Love, Juliette xo
